Call of Duty documentary to be released by Devolver Digital Films

Film division of the Indie publisher to release movie by UK film maker Jonathan Beals on September 19th
Devolver Digital’s film division will be releasing a feature length documentary on Activision’s Call of Duty franchise.
CODumentary has been created by UK expert Jonathan Beales and looks to explore the rise of Call of Duty to where it is today as a global entertainment franchise. The documentary will chart the course of the first person shooter from its World War Two beginnings to the hugely successful Modern Warfare series of titles over the last fifteen years.
The film will go across both the US, UK and Europe, visiting some of the real life places depicted in the games and features interviews with developers, fans, experts and professional players. The documentary was debuted at DreamHack in Atlanta to a positive reception and will release on September 19th online and as a physical release at a date to be announced.
“One of the biggest challenges making the film was encapsulating a 15 year timeline into 93 minutes,” said  Jonathan Beales. “I was very fortunate to work with a lot of great people whose input and contribution really helped make this happen. It’s been a great 5-year journey and even though the documentary is centered on video games, the story is always about the human input and endeavour involved. The rich experiences of developing games, playing them or waiting in line to buy them will always remain center stage.”
Devolver Digital, who started its film publishing arm in 2013, will release CODumenatry across many digital platforms, including Steam, Amazon, iTunes, Google, PlayStation Video and Xbox. The initial release on Steam and Amazon will be on September 19th and the other platforms will see the release at a later date.
